Operates a mobile refueling truck and island fuel pumps dispensing gasoline, diesel, E85, CNG, and oil.  Services automotive equipment by performing minor preventive maintenance (PM’s), the changing of oil, oil and air filters, tires, batteries, cooling system flush, transmission fluid and filter, and other minor tasks encountered in general garage work.  Equipment and tools used include, but are not limited to, tire changing machines, wheel balancers, fuel dispensing devices, vehicle lifts, fluid/grease dispensing units, etc. Reports to Garage Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The proper care and handling of Company owned tools and equipment as well as personal safety
  • Refuels a wide variety of gasoline, diesel, E85, and compressed natural gas-powered Laclede vehicles and equipment utilizing a mobile refueling truck and island dispensers.
  • Occasionally transport mobile fueling truck to various Laclede satellites to refuel vehicles and equipment.
  • Prepares manifest and keep accurate records whenever operating fuel trucks on streets or highways.
  • Maintains accurate fuel issue logs including unit numbers, fuel type and quantity dispensed.
  • Pickup and delivery Company vehicles and/or parts as needed.
  • Changes tires on Company vehicles and equipment in shop or on roadside.
  • Inspects and repairs defects in tires and balances post repair.
  • Performs minor preventive maintenance (PM’s) on vehicle and equipment including; greasing, changing oil and oil filters, changing air filters, check tire pressure, inspect and replace wiper blades, lubricates all moving parts applicable to a PM, inspects all fluid levels, rotates tires, and completes manufacturers service schedules as required.
  • Check-in and decommission vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform Missouri Motor Vehicle inspections and Federal DOT inspections.
  • Reports any vehicle or equipment mechanical defects or equipment malfunctions.
  • May perform similar tasks assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • General mechanical knowledge of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment.
  • Possession of a Class “A” CDL with Hazardous Materials and Tanker Endorsements.
  • Acquire a Missouri Vehicle Inspectors license.

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Read and interpret pertinent laws, codes and safety orders dealing with the handling of fuel and transportation of fuels and hazardous materials

  • Activate emergency procedures effectively

  • Ability to work as part of a team and display a positive attitude for this dynamic environment
