Spire is seeking a Service Supervisor to supervise and coordinate work, engage in the field service and meter work activities in the Hattiesburg, MS Operation Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and inspects field service technicians' work to ensure the efficiency, safety, and quality of jobs performed.
  • Trains service personnel in job-related duties as well as safety procedures.
  • Supports and assists with the company's leak survey and line location efforts and programs; ensures leak repairs conducted or notification of necessary repair provided to appropriate construction personnel.
  • Coordinates support for collections, billing, and meter reading as required.
  • Speaks with customers to resolve complaints and issues.
  • Reviews and processes necessary paperwork to ensure accuracy and completeness of work performed.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Associate degree from two-year college or technical school; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • Mississippi Driver's License

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Must live no more than thirty (30) miles beyond the boundary of the natural gas system under his/her jurisdiction.  Said boundary being formed by connecting the gas meters at the furthest extents of the system, in all directions.
  • Knowledge of the laws, legal codes, governmental regulations, agency rules, and company policies and procedures as pertains to areas of responsibility
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with management, subordinates, and the general public
  • Ability to determine tasks, priorities, and goals and to lead others to accomplish work activities
  • Ability to read, write and interpret work-related documents
  • Ability to deal with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people in a professional manner
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • A mix of normal office conditions, outdoors exposed to all weather conditions, in construction areas with uneven surfaces and in areas exposed to loud audible noises
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and inspect worksites
  • Includes exposure to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, high or precarious places and fumes or other airborne particles
