Spire Gulf is seeking a Large Commercial/Industrial Business Development Representative to work in our Spire Gulf operation. Under the supervision of the Manager - Large Commercial/Industrial Business Development, incumbent develops and maintains key client contacts; develops and maintains inventory of clients’ project status; sells the benefits, programs and processes that support the strategies of Spire Gulf; strives internally to understand and successfully share benefits, programs, and processes and to externally understand the technical advantages and disadvantages of equipment clients use; and diligently records and tracks client information for the benefit of the department and company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains routine contact with assigned, existing large commercial and industrial customers for the purpose of identifying sales opportunities related to replacing, upgrading or adding gas burning equipment.
  • Generate and provide cost analysis and rate of return calculations to customer on fuel choices for new and replacement equipment as part of a sales presentation.
  • Proactively investigates new commercial and industrial projects and provides natural gas sales message and information to potential new customer.
  • Research and investigate information on specialty equipment as customer requirement’s dictate.
  • Present contract options to existing and new customers based on a comprehensive knowledge of gas supply, contracts, equipment, competitive alternatives, and customer’s energy requirements.
  • Records and tracks customer contacts, sales opportunities, and results.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Required Education: (may include certifications, licenses and registrations)

  • Requires a minimum of four-year college degree in Marketing/Sales, Building Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience, etc.

Required knowledge, skill and abilities:

  • Requires knowledge of company policies for Business Development, gas burning equipment, features, prices, specifications and installation requirements. Is able to perform all required tasks in SAP (CCS, ERMA), Outlook, Microsoft products, Salesforce, and other related company and industry software and tools.
  • Ability to work and adapt in a fast-changing team environment with a positive attitude

Physical demands, work environment and work schedule:

  • Requires normal physical stamina. Duties require continual automobile travel and exposure to the elements. Requires frequent phone calls and interruption both during and after working hours
  • Schedules own activities with occasional guidance from supervisor, and makes timely decisions based on best available information and resources. Requires attention and care in giving and securing information. Is aware of promotional programs to obtain increased gas load, the disclosure of which could affect competitive relationships. Exercises judgment and discretion while negotiating with key clients. Requires accuracy and attention to details when analyzing, preparing, and presenting proposals.
  • Should be proficient in sales and negotiations techniques. Requires a thorough knowledge of the sales and negotiations process, features, prices, equipment manufacturers and distributors, specifications and installation requirements. Requires a thorough knowledge of Spire Gulf requirements for main and service line extensions and Business Development procedures. Industry experience, or sales experience is required.
  • Must exercise extreme accuracy and detail when creating proposals, contracts, and evaluating rate options.
  • Should be aware of and abide by company policies while operating a company vehicle or using company facilities
