Spire is seeking an experienced, collaborative continuous improvement professional to work in the St. Louis or Birmingham office. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting continuous improvement leads by gathering requirements, performing analysis, measurement, and controlling phases of their projects to ensure best possible resolution is utilized for each project
  • Lead small-scale, cross-functional, non-IT projects and continuous improvement activities, as assigned
  • Collaborate with project managers and continuous improvement leads to ensure projects meet specified timelines and deliverables; including documentation of meeting outcomes, design of flow diagrams and other documentation efforts, maintenance of tracking logs and meeting agendas, and other support tasks, as requested
  • Assist in the completion of regular reporting requirements including dashboards and other executive-level reports; maintain and execute on appropriate communication and change management plans
  • Support lean “quick win” engagements, including experimenting, measuring results, and implementing incremental solutions
  • Support the Manager, Continuous Improvement by accepting special projects as assigned, including but not limited to, the mergers & acquisitions integration activities
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in an analytical field (ie. Engineering, Science, Business) required
  • 3 years of related continuous improvement experience is preferred
  • 1-3 years experience leading large-scale, cross-functional projects is preferred
  • Prior experience in the Energy or Utility industry is preferred

Certificates, licenses, registrations:

  • Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred
  • Change management certifications are highly valued
  • Project management accreditations are also valued
  • Willingness and ability to work toward certifications/accreditations may be required

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge and skills in continuous improvement including data collection, understanding cause & effect, designing & analyzing processes, and selecting & decision making.
  • Experience applying principles and tools critical to continuous improvement including change management, value stream mapping, six sigma, 5S, root cause analysis, and standard work.
  • Aptitude to identify, learn and apply new continuous improvement skills
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets
  • Basic understanding of project management and process improvement concepts
  • Ability to tailor approach to meet the needs of a wide range of internal customers
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Work environment:

  • Normal Work Environment – Work is normally performed in a shared office environment
  • Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday
  • May require work during nonstandard business hours
  • Some travel required
