We have an exciting intern opportunity in our Human Resources (HR) Employee Experience team. This team is focused on enabling Spire employees to have an exceptional experience from hiring through retirement. This intern role, based in St Louis, MO, will be responsible for assisting and executing projects that align with one or more of our major groups: Talent Acquisition, Diversity & Inclusion, Talent Management & Organizational Development and Learning & Development and Employee Engagement. Potential project areas include but are not limited to:

  • Contingent Workers/Vendor Request for Proposal process
  • Hiring & Selection Assessments
  • Employee Onboarding
  • Performance Management
  • Mentorship Program
  • Individualized Employee Training
  • Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives
  • Employee Engagement Events

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and application of industry best practices to projects
  • Development of project proposals for approval
  • Managing deployment of ongoing programs
  • Assessing improvement opportunities in technologies and systems

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate graduation projected within 2 semesters or accepted/enrolled in a master’s degree program
  • Degree area in Human Resources, HR Management, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Industrial & Labor Relations, Business Administration with HR Concentration, or other relevant field of study.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment through collegiate activities or organizations.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lead projects from initiation through completion
  • Ability to lead by example in support of Spire’s values of Safety, Inclusiveness and Integrity
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply basic math and writing principles
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) required
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions, work independently and multitask effectively

Work Environment and Schedule

  • Work is normally performed in an open, shared office environment
  • Typically, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Additional time beyond normal work hours is sometimes required to meet target timeframes for completing special projects or studies
  • Limited travel may be required
