This position will be responsible for ensuring that the monthly tax provision, the budget and forecasts updates, disclosures included in quarterly filings, and the various income tax returns are prepared accurately and timely.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparation of ASC 740, monthly, quarterly and annual tax provision, effective tax rates, uncertain tax positions, book to tax adjustments and reconciliations of payable and deferred tax accounts
  • Preparation/review of federal, state and local income/franchise tax returns
  • Prepare monthly forecast updates from an income tax perspective
  • Preparation of quarterly estimates and year-end extensions
  • Understanding of PowerTax fixed asset system as it relates to tax depreciation calculations
  • Perform research and effectively apply tax laws and regulations to the Company
  • Assist with tax audits and provide supporting data
  • Respond to income taxing authority notices & correspondence
  • Assist with income tax calculations for the Company’s regulatory rate filings
  • Assist with integration activities related to income taxes, including acquisitions and software updates
  • Maintain organizational tax calendar and obligations matrix for income taxes
  • Assist with compliance and documentation of internal controls as it relates to income taxes
  • Maintain high performance standards and constructive employee relations at all levels of the Company
  • Other assigned duties to meet departmental and Company objectives

Essential Characteristics and Competencies

  • Ability to perform tax research, including the ability to read, interpret, and apply complex tax laws and directives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of income tax and financial reporting concepts
  • Ability to prioritize and simultaneously manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Knowledge of IRS and SEC compliance and reporting requirements and regulations
  • Strong work ethic and integrity, with a commitment to honesty, candor, and responsible business relationships
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes – Oxley requirements and internal controls

Required Education: (may include certifications, licenses and registrations)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required

Required knowledge, skill and abilities:

  • A minimum of three years of experience working in the tax accounting field. Prefer one year of corporate tax experience as part of overall work history.
  • Experience with PowerPlan, PowerTax, OneSource Corporate tax software, and Oracle preferred
  • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to proficiently use the Internet and tax research databases to quickly locate tax guidance
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

Physical demands, work environment and work schedule:

  • Work is normally performed in a moderately noisy business office
  • Some overtime may be required for due date driven projects
