Spire is seeking an Investor Relations Analyst to work in the Finance organization at the main office in St. Louis. This position will be responsible for providing analytical and other support for Spire’s investor relations programs to communicate our strategy, performance and investment thesis to investors and security analysts.  This position will also support Treasury with capital markets activities including debt and equity issuance (ATM program) as well as analysis and tracking of pension investment performance and asset allocations.

Primary duties:

  • Identify, evaluate and proactively influence analyst earnings estimates, opinions, and research
  • Analyze SR’s stock performance, valuation and shareholder base
  • Maintain competitive intelligence on industry peers
  • Develop and maintain updated list of prospective investors (targets)
  • Develop materials for quarterly earnings announcements
  • Gather information and prepare other analyses and presentations as needed
  • Monitor and provide internal reporting on the Defined Benefit Plan and OPEB investments in conjunction with Treasury
  • Work Closely with Treasury in conjunction with capital markets activities
  • All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2 + Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, treasury or financial analysis preferably within a publicly traded company
  • Strong analytical skills required in addition to experience with extracting, manipulating, organizing and summarizing information from databases and information systems
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and advanced features of Excel
  • Solid written, oral and interpersonal communications skills and ability to create presentations to external audiences as well as Spire’s LC and Board of Directors
  • Experience in investor relations and in the natural gas, energy or utility industries preferred but not required
  • Basic understanding of capital markets and investments

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related discipline; accounting or finance strongly preferred
  • Advanced degrees or certifications (MBA, CPA, CFA) beneficial but not required

Work environment:

  • Work is performed in a normal office environment, without significant physical demands
  • Work is focused on analysis and preparing reports and presentation, which involves heavy use of a computer while seated at a desk for extended periods of time
  • Typical work hours are 40+ per week with some additional hours, including weekday evenings and weekend days, required during peak times. These include periods in advance of quarterly board meetings, earnings announcements, and investor conferences/meetings.
  • Up to 10% travel required
