Kayla Hull - Trader

My job as a trader

I am responsible for buying and selling daily, monthly, and seasonal gas supply to meet the overall supply and demand requirements of our clients. I also coordinate with gas schedulers to use our transport and storage assets in the most reliable and efficient manner. I learn something new each day, whether it’s a new way to serve gas to the Chicago region, a new pipeline we’d like to do business on, hedging our position within the market – the list and opportunities go on and on. Long story short: I manage relationships and help our clients meet their demanding business goals.

My most rewarding work experience

The most rewarding project I have worked on for LER was Pedal the Cause. The best part – 100 percent of donations go to Children’s Hospital and Siteman Cancer Center here in St. Louis. Last year, our team had 41 riders cover more than 2,135 miles to find a cure for cancer. I have taken the role as co-captain to help organize our team in support of this cause. Last year, we raised more than $20,000 for the cause. The experience is always very rewarding.

What I love about my job

I love what I do because nothing is ever the same and it challenges me. New opportunities arise, new strategies form and it’s our job to come out on top. I work with incredibly smart people, who all come together and come up with multiple strategies and solutions to any challenge.
