Summary
Spire is seeking a Storekeeper to work in the Bessemer, Alabama location. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items from the stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. Following appropriate safety guidelines and using safe work habits.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read, understand and complete required paperwork necessary in receiving, issuing, and delivering various parts and materials.
- Communicate with customers, employees, vendors, and supervisors regarding inquiries relative to the availability of parts, pipe, fittings, meters, regulators and other materials.
- Receive, unload, and distribute materials including pipe, fittings, meters, regulators and other materials.
- Maintain malleable fitting bins and free stock bins.
- Enter data into the various computer applications (Oracle) in order to track parts, materials and inventory items to inquire as to the availability of these materials. Bar Code applications.
- Transfer and deliver materials to other local divisions.
- Read material requests and stock lockers and bins.
- All other duties as assigned

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Alabama CDL – Type A
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- Previous experience in Oracle is a plus.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs while performing the tasks associated with the receipt, unloading, and distribution of parts and materials maintained in the Warehouse area.
- Ability to become proficient in Oracle to complete cycle counts, move orders, pick tickets, transfers, and create requisitions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, busy environment.
- Ability to safely operate forklift, pallet jack and work with hand truck.
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- 8 hour shifts Monday - Friday
- Outdoor Work Environment - exposed to all weather conditions, in construction areas with uneven surfaces and in areas exposed to loud audible noises.
- Work includes extensive time in the field, where duties require exposure to heavy construction equipment, outdoor elements, and physical exertion.
- Overtime and /or travel may be required
- Ability to handle physical workload lifting and moving boxes up to 50lbs regularly.
- Ability to use hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls; walk, stand, climb, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel or twist; and lift heavy objects. Ability to frequently repeat the same physical or mental activities.
- Ability to work in cramped workspaces and maneuver in awkward positions.
