Summary
Spire is seeking a Cost Accountant with Financial Analyst experience to support the Spire Midstream business which encompasses natural gas storage and pipeline operations. This position will be responsible for traditional accounting tasks such as preparing and completing monthly journal entries, financial statements, quarterly reports, yearly reports, and account reconciliations as well as traditional financial analyst tasks such as variance analysis, forecasting, and budgeting. While Spire Inc. is a company of over ~3,600 employees, Spire Midstream has about ~100 employees. So, the cost accountant will have to be flexible and pick up ad hoc assignments to support this business unit.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journal entries, financial statements, reports, etc.
- Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts.
- Prepare various schedules and reports.
- Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets monitoring financial aspects of the business.
- Keep abreast of changes in accounting rules.
- Reconcile monthly bank statements.
- Regular attendance is considered an essential job function.
- All other duties as assigned.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance or a High School Diploma / GED and a minimum of 4 years of similar experience.
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- 1 to 3 years' experience, required.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to meet hard-fast deadlines.
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- Normal Work Environment – Normally performed in shared office environment.
- Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday.
- Some after-hours work may be required for quarterly and annual closing and other due date driven projects.
