Summary
Spire is seeking a Operations Utility Technician Inspection. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective installation and maintenance of natural gas mains and services for transmission and distribution systems in compliance with 49 CFR Part 192 and company policies. This role supports construction projects associated with natural gas systems and performs office and field record-keeping duties. The incumbent will utilize computer/electronic equipment for construction operations and assist with tasks such as field inspection, coordination of construction projects, pipe locating, basic CP checks, leak detection/classification, and soil classification.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with installation and maintenance of natural gas mains and services.
Support construction projects by performing field inspections and coordinating activities.
Utilize computer/electronic equipment for construction operations and record-keeping.
Perform tasks such as pipe locating, basic CP checks, leak detection/classification, and soil classification.
Maintain accurate records of construction activities and compliance documentation.
Follow all safety protocols and company procedures during field and office activities.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience
1 year of related work experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Tennessee Driver’s License
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
Basic knowledge and use of construction tools and underground construction activities
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Basic PC knowledge in a Windows environment
Physical demands, environment and schedule
Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; lifting up to 50 lbs.
Frequent walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, stooping, crawling, standing, digging, climbing; works on uneven terrain, often with heavy vegetation.
Manual dexterity (hand/eye coordination)
Keen eyesight
Good hearing
Good sense of smell
Comes in frequent contact with insects and animals
Ability to use breathing apparatus when responding to gas leaks.
Weekend and evening work as required
Subject to overtime and must be available for call-out and emergency response.
Some rotating shifts.
