Summary
Spire is seeking an Employee and Labor Relations Specialist to support our Spire TN location in Nashville. This position will be responsible for developing relationships with regional leaders to assist with all areas of Human Resources, including labor relations, employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, workforce planning, training and development, performance management, and additional areas of need.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned employee group, providing generalist support across recruiting, onboarding, compensation, benefits, training, and performance management.
• Interpret and administer Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs); advise leaders on contract provisions and labor-related matters.
• Investigate and resolve employee relations issues, including grievances, complaints, and disciplinary actions.
• Support labor negotiations through proposal development, wage/benefit analysis, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
• Maintain effective relationships with union representatives, business leaders, and HR colleagues.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including NLRA, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and EEOC regulations.
• Track and analyze grievance trends and labor relations metrics; prepare reports for leadership and regulatory agencies.
• Facilitate or deliver training on HR systems, policies, labor relations, and workplace conduct.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract and retain top talent.
• Prepare documentation and responses for administrative claims (e.g., NLRB, EEOC).
• Contribute to workforce planning, talent review, and succession strategies.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor’s degree required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- Minimum 3 years of HR experience or managing in a unionized environment
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
- Experience conducting investigations and managing grievance processes
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- Hybrid work schedule: 3 days onsite/2 days remote
- Work is performed in a normal office environment
- Travel up to 10% may be required
