Summary
Spire is seeking a Process Improvement Specialist to focus on continuous improvement in technology processes. This candidate will work with enterprise architects, solution architects, business and technology teams to visually represent data flows, value streams, and technical information identifying areas for improvement.
This role will require extensive experience in process design and excellent technical skills to analyze a system or design and implement changes boosting efficiency and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide leadership in process, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
• Consult with architects and process owners to determine the most effective solution to challenges using project and process definition methods
• Collaborate with technology teams to create future state technical processes maximizing solution effectiveness
• Ensure timely and informative communication flow between business and technology teams
• Collaborate with systems and development staff to collect, interpret and visually represent technical information
• Foster a team environment that supports a strong foundation of agile DevOps principles
• Maintain focus on legal, quality, and security adherence across technology landscape in solution definition and design
• Work with architects to translate design requirements that visually represent the technology roadmap for various solutions
• Maintain records and files of work and revisions; make edits to documentation, standardize documentation and/or make changes to material prepared by others
• Define and establish standards for documenting processes
• Contribute to the development of system-based solutions and procedures that are both cost effective and meet the relevant business requirements
• Close the loop on root cause analyses and coordinate updates to knowledge base to assist support teams in the improvement of first contact resolution
Essential Characteristics and Competencies
Deep understanding of solution value streams and business activities
Knowledge and experience working with information technology service managers and service owners across multiple technologies
Advanced experience communicating complex ideas with stakeholders and building collaborative relationships with team members, business partners, and other stakeholders
Demonstrate Lean-Agile thinking
Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
Demonstrate Servant Leader mindset
Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct reporting responsibilities
Indirect leadership and influence
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related discipline or equivalent experience
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Minimum of 5 years in managing process improvement projects and designing solutions in the information technology space
• Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
• Understanding of project management best practices
• Experience working with enterprise architecture tools (i.e., Ardoq) preferred
• Strong understanding of mid-range platforms, middleware, interface design, virtualization, systems architecture, and core networking
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to drive solution-based conversations
Physical demands, environment and schedule
Hybrid Remote/Office environment
Work performed primarily during business hours, with off-hours support required at times
Some Travel may be required as ITS and teams are disparate across locations (primarily St. Louis and Birmingham)
