Summary
Spire is seeking a Intern, Workload Planning to work in our St. Louis, MO business support group. Spire is seeking an enthusiastic, career-minded student or recent graduate to join our operations across our regions. Our paid internship position affords students the opportunity to gain real-world experience to help put what they have learned in class into action. This position will assist the Manager, Workload Planning in planning and assigning future dated work utilizing technologies to ensure manpower is appropriate and proper work leveling and routing occur so that customer-related requests, compliance targets, and new business tasks are completed in a timely manner and that routing is properly managed with available workforce.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform duties as assigned by Workload Planning Manager or Administrator/Senior Scheduler.
- Assign, analyze, and report daily/weekly/monthly/yearly assignments of all work performed at the Spire utility business.
- Utilize the Work Scheduling and Enterprise Asset Management systems
- Understand and utilize reporting dashboards and reports in Excel, Oracle Business Intelligence, and Tableau
- Leverage large data sets to identify and analyze business use cases
- Work with other areas of Field Operations, IT, and Operations Support to identify, improve, and implement best practices and process improvements
- Perform root cause analysis for changing business conditions such as missed appointments, workforce capacity, and average job duration and communicate those findings to the Manager, Administrator, and Senior Scheduler
- Proactively assess future business conditions and adjust workload as necessary to support changing company initiatives
- Ensure customer service levels are maintained through availability adjustments and coordination with work location supervisors on manpower adjustments.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Rising junior, senior, or graduate level student working towards a degree in an analytical field (ie. Engineering, Science, Business, IT)
- Must be able to work 35- 40 hours per week throughout the summer internship.
- Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
- Microsoft Office proficiency required with most positions.
- Must participate in All Inclusive Onboarding and Project Poster Symposium
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data, process improvement, and relationship building is preferred
- Aptitude to identify, learn and apply new business processes
- Ability to analyze complex data sets from multiple systems to aid decision making
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint preferred
- Basic knowledge of data analytics/visualization (Tableau) is valued
- Basic knowledge of lean, process improvement, six sigma, and process flows, is valued
- Basic knowledge of Click, Customer Care and Billing by Oracle, and Maximo, is valued
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- Normal Work Environment.
- Some field visits will be required from time to time.
- Normal work schedule Monday through Friday.
