Summary

This position is responsible for program development, planning, delivery and recordkeeping for all operations training for all distribution, transmission, hazardous liquid, LNG and underground storage areas.

 

 

Primary duties:

  • Responsible for managing all Spire field operations training programs. Ensure all programs are current and validity is maintained. Coordinates activities, as needed, with vendors and field operations management for program revisions.
  • Work closely with Training Specialist to coordinate departmental activities.
  • Responsible for delivering job-specific training for field operations employees through computer-based, classroom, hand-on and field -based instruction.
  • Work with Manager and other department members to develop training curriculum to include New Hire Training Programs, Annual continuing education classes and other classes.
  • Additional training areas may Operator Qualification and other DOT 192 training as required, OSHA, state and local certifications, apprenticeships (where applicable) basic skill classes, leak investigation, equipment training, continuing education classes as needed and code updates
  • Ensure all schedules are met.   Continually communicates with Field Operations to ensure all training guidelines are met and compliance deadlines are enforced.
  • Ensure accuracy of all training-related records and accurate data management of those records.
  • Assist Operations Quality Assurance group as needed. Collaborates with other departments for development of necessary training curriculum.
  • Serve as primary resource, as needed, to Pipeline Safety and the legal department for training-related issues.
  • Manage budgets and help ensure financial performance objectives are achieved for department and projects
  • Represent company on matters related to operations training with the Missouri, Alabama and Mississippi Public Service Commission (PSC) Pipeline Safety Staffs and the Federal Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) as needed for regulatory issues, annual audits, periodic audits and incident investigations related to the company’s natural gas, storage, LNG and hazardous liquid systems. Present information as needed to these agencies to support company initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of demonstrated experience in operations and/or engineering in a natural gas distribution company or equivalent experience in another industry. At least 5 years’ supervisory experience preferred.
  • Innovative and collaborative leadership style coupled with strong communications skills

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering preferred
  • General knowledge of federal and state pipeline safety regulations and company standards and training programs
  • General knowledge of all gas, plumbing and mechanical codes.
  • General knowledge of equipment used in the installation, repair and service of all gas lines and equipment.

Work environment:

  • Shared office environment with occasional field visits
  • Travel requirement approximately 40% or as needed
