Summary

Spire is seeking a Manager, Employee Relations is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Alabama HR Employee Relations team while partnering with the Corporate business leaders on objectives under a shared service model.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of HR Business Partners, align and execute the business and people strategies to drive business growth and performance; formulate and implement HR initiatives which support business growth
  • Improve employee engagement using every touch point, ensuring that culture and behavior encourage all employees to give fully of their capabilities and be appropriately rewarded and recognized in return
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on the selection and onboarding of new employees. Collaborate with leaders to grow diverse leadership, talent, and technical capability pipeline.  Lead workforce planning for the region and ensure integration in budgets and HR resource planning
  • Manage and advise on HR processes such as performance management, training, compensation philosophy and ensure administrative actions are executed on time. Where processes, programs or policies are inhibiting business performance, identify alternatives and advocate for business needs
  • Coach management on change leadership behaviors and opportunities and implement effective strategies to enable the organization to thrive through periods of change, e.g. acquisition, internal growth, restructurings, leadership acceleration
  • Diagnose problems, find solutions and implement actions to improve individual and organizational performance.
  • Coach leaders and emerging talent to develop and enhance their personal leadership style and management effectiveness. Ensure training needs are captured, built into budget cycles and monitor the return on investment as training programs are delivered
  • Assist with labor relations initiatives, assuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and NLRB legislation, including contract preparation, negotiations, and interpretation
  • Support the EEO and Affirmative Action initiatives, assuring that training, communications, and policies are in place and functioning that address areas of under utilization, prevent harassment, and assure compliance with corporate objectives
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Yes

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor's degree

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • 2 years’ experience leading employees
  • Experience working across multiple regions or business units
  • PHR or SPHR preferred

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Normal office conditions with up to 30% travel required
