Spire is seeking an enthusiastic, career-minded student or recent graduate to join our team. If you're an auto enthusiast with a business degree, our Fleet Intern position may be the perfect fit for you! Our paid internship position affords students the opportunity to learn and be mentored.  As an Intern, you may complete various projects and perform administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned department and natural gas industry. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and complete projects based on departmental needs,
  • Assist in special projects and miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned,
  • Communicate project status and results to management,
  • Perform administrative functions as needed,
  • Maintain regular and reliable level of attendance
  • Assist with lease database and payment maintenance
  • Assist with prepaid payment request for Department of Motor Vehicle transactions related to licensing, sale tax, or other requirements
  • Assist with managing manufacturer’s vehicle and equipment recalls for Missouri LDC’s
  • Assist with fleet card administration; ordering and canceling cards, and troubleshooting issues 
  • Create requisitions for purchase of oil, diesel, and gasoline for Missouri facilities 
  • Assist in pulling various department reports as required
  • Verify and reconcile mileage reporting for company vehicles
  • Assist with creating work orders, title work, shipping arrangements, etc

Essential Characteristics and Competencies

  • Have availability to work up to 40 hours per week starting in May through the August timeframe
  • Have advanced skills using Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain a high level of motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges

Supervisory Responsibilities


Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student and will be a Junior, Senior, or master’s level student in Fall 2023
  • Cumulative GPA 3.0 or above 
  • Must have a valid driver's license 

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week throughout the summer internship.
  • 1 year of general work experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required with most positions.
