Responsible for 24/7 operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility including LNG process and vaporization systems, infrastructure, power/steam generation, controls, emergency response, security, maintenance, and custodial care. Understands and follows LNG facility operating procedures, safe handling practices, equipment, maintenance protocols, governmental regulations, technical and safety codes, standards and reporting requirements. In-depth knowledge of the physical properties of LNG, surroundings, and able to identify relevant equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain liquefaction process to provide storage and transfer of liquid natural gas.
  • Operate and maintain vaporization equipment to provide transfer and send out of natural gas vapor.
  • Operate and maintain off-site Satellite LNG Facilities at Double Springs and East Lauderdale
  • Operate and maintain Portable LNG Vaporizer at onsite and offsite locations as needed
  • Monitor transportation and storage of flammable and other potentially dangerous products to ensure that safety guidelines are followed. Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning.
  • Control operation of compressors, scrubbers, evaporators, and refrigeration equipment to liquefy, compress, or regasify natural gas. Operate natural gas equipment. Start up and shut down equipment.
  • Monitor equipment functioning, observe temperature, level, and flow, perform regular equipment checks to insure all equipment is operating as it should.
  • Control equipment to regulate flow and pressure of gas to feedlines of boilers, heaters, and related steam-generating and heating equipment.
  • Record, review, and compile operations records, test results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and concentrations.
  • Adjust temperature, pressure, vacuum, level, flow rate, and/or transfer of gas to maintain processes at required levels or to correct problems.
  • Clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using hand tools, meters, test equipment, and calibration devices.
  • Control fractioning columns, compressors, purifying towers, heat exchangers, nitrogen generators and related equipment.
  • Review log sheets to optimize efficiency and detect malfunctions.
  • Test gas, chemicals and refrigerants during processing to assess factors such as purity, moisture content, molecular weight, and to detect quality problems or leaks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Requires work on all shifts as sole person responsible for entire facility

Required Education (may include certifications, licenses and registrations)

  • High School Education
  • Education in mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and/or cryogenics, or previous documented experience preferred. Requires the ability to understand chemical properties, physics, DOT and NFPA codes, comprehension of engineering drawings for electrical, piping, control loops.

Physical demands, work environment and work schedule:
All duties of this position are required within an active natural gas storage facility, in a known hazardous environment due to exposures with flammable liquids and vapors and multiple pressures, high voltage electrical circuits, rotating equipment, work at high elevations, confined spaces. Annual physical and drug testing.  Able to climb ladder, platforms, stairs, working well above grade.  Work outdoors, in all types of weather, year-round. Able to lift and carry loads in excess of 20 lbs. Twenty-four hr. on call availability, working alone 24/7, rotating shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays. Flexibility in scheduling work hours due to demands and availability.
