Summary

Spire is seeking a Manager, Southeast Operational & Shared Services Analytics to work in our Birmingham, AL location. The position serves as an impartial partner with the core business by providing financial and analytical support to advance operational performance. Position is responsible for supporting the analytical and reporting needs of Distribution Operations including budgeting, forecasting, financial /non-financial analytics, the development and monitoring of new operational metrics, and assisting in other special projects related to utility operations. Position is expected to serve as a “go to” person and subject matter expert for core financial and operational practices. Position will supervise other Operational & Financial Support Analysts in the region. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the long-range planning, annual budgeting, and monthly forecast process for the Southeast region
  • Lead the facilitation of monthly review meetings with leadership for the Southeast region
  • Manage and prioritize the development and maintenance of financial and operational reports and dashboards utilizing enterprise wide applications for various levels of leadership
  • Manage and prioritize the development and maintenance of operational and productivity key performance indicators / metrics for various levels of leadership
  • Provide the monthly reports for PSC reporting
  • Support company wide system / process improvement efforts
  • Lead in the training and change management efforts of the department related to enhancements to systems, process, metrics, and/or reporting
  • Lead and prioritize the development and maintenance of both internal and external benchmarks for the purposes of developing best practices
  • Lead the identification/analysis/assessment of various projects for business units and Leadership Council as required for additional sustained corporate growth.  Oversee the development of business cases by gathering and assessing background and research data; supporting economic, financial, and performance analysis; providing quality assurance, due diligence and review support as appropriate.
  • Develop analysts to ensure the group has extensive knowledge of all operational business processes as well as the applications that support the analysis
  • Serve as a liaison between the corporate functions and distributions operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field of study

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • 7-10 years of relevant planning and/or analytical experience
  • Previous supervisory experience of employees that have worked in analytical roles preferred
  • Previous experience within the regulated utility sector a plus
  • Previous experience with enterprise wide applications (Oracle, Hyperion, Maximo) preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint preferred
  • Strong ethics and integrity, dedication to a safe work environment, and a commitment to diverse work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build and establish rapport with a diverse array of people

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Normal Office Environment – Work is normally performed in a shared office environment.
  • Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm with occasional periods requiring extended time
  • Overtime and/or travel may be required
