Summary

Spire is seeking a Manager, Credit and Collections to support our Missouri and Alabama operations. The Manager coordinates all collection activity for all regions of Spire.   This position is responsible for creating policies regarding customer financial credit risk, credit history, customer deposits, and for managing the execution of Credit and Collection efforts by the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees, schedules and leads the development of all collection activity  
  • Oversees Credit and Collection strategic planning for the organization 
  • Establish strategy and collection policies with Regulatory team
  • Reviews, evaluates, and assesses aged receivables practices to develop improved process and implementation
  • Provides analysis and feedback regarding collection issues resulting from internal processes
  • Stays current with credit, collection, bankruptcy laws, and regulation requirements
  • Manages external collection agencies 
  • Collaborates with Field Operations, Legal, Business Development, and Economic Department to budget and strategize disconnection activity and customer retention
  • Responsible for overall corporate credit and collection functions, including risk strategies and outstanding receivables
  • Oversees company research and response to written consumer credit bureau disputes
  • Assists in providing information related to collection practices and policies in response to three states’ public service commissions and other complaints
  • Participates in cross-functional and departmental projects as the subject matter expert for credit and collection processes
  • Supports departmental and company objectives by gathering reporting metrics related to collection activities including outstanding receivables
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises ONE people leader, who supervises 10-12 individual contributors

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related discipline REQUIRED

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • 5+ years' experience with Credit & Collections REQUIRED
  • Commercial account experience required, with balances of $50k-100k+ preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools like PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with CC&B and DebtNext preferred, or other systems like Oracle
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Experience with bankruptcy law and regulatory requirements preferred

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Hybrid Work Arrangement: 3 days/week onsite, 2 days/week remote
  • Work is normally performed in a shared office environment
  • Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Occasional after- hours work may be required.
  • Approximately 25% travel to other Spire or third-party locations.
