Spire is looking for a Senior Commodity Risk Analyst to work in the Houston, TX office location. Highlights of the ideal candidate:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economic, Finance, Math or Business-related field
- 5-8 years' experience working in Commodity Trading, Risk Analysis and/or Statistical Data
- Proficient working in SQL, Tableau or VBA
- Proficient using MSO - particularly Excel
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver timely, rigorous, and accurate reporting and analysis of exposures, risks, costs, gross margin.
- Execute projects to build analytics tools, models, and reports to create and distribute market risk information to various users within Spire.
- Oversee daily marking, upload, and maintenance of price and volatility curves.
- Develop an understand of the commodities trading risk infrastructure and the design, implementation, and execution of risk control processes.
- Provide constructive challenge to trading team to ensure it is compliant and aligned to company approved risk metrics and policies.
- Develop robust risk and scenario modeling and other analytic tools required to understand and analyze market and portfolio risk.
- Ensure that the representation of transactions in the systems of record provides a fair picture of the associated risks.
- Utilize effective communication skills to build strong relationships with the front office while maintaining independence.
- Provide ad-hoc risk analysis around complex transactions put forward by the business.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Front Office on the risk analysis related to its current portfolio and proposed transactions.
- Assist the Director of Commodity Risk with developing and documenting risk policies and procedures.

Essential Characteristics and Competencies

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Finance, Accounting, Economic or Business-related field.
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- Excellent analytical skills, self-motivated, and capable of independent achievement.
- Strong business analysis, modeling, and problem-solving skills with a technical propensity and strong follow-through.
- Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong proficiency with Endur risk management software required.
- Proficient SQL and VBA with Tableau or comparable reporting tool preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs particularly Excel.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience required.

- Hybrid Work Schedule (3 days in the office/2 days remote)
