Summary

Spire is seeking a professional with interest/experience in developing new business opportunities within the low-carbon energy ecosystem.  This individual will drive growth and assist in the optimization and expansion of our growing alternative energy business.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Responsible for implementing Spire’s offerings of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and other energy options, including hydrogen and other renewables as business needs/opportunities appear.
•    Identify and develop in-service territory RNG supply sources for pipeline injection
•    Identify strategic and business development opportunities for sustainable energy market growth through customer research, analysis and insights with presented recommendations to senior management
•    Participate in initial screening and evaluation of new business opportunities
•    Conduct market, customer due diligence, competitor, and other analysis related to the development of a business case that outlines both company and customer benefit propositions
•    Evaluate customer sustainability goals and demonstrate linkage to low carbon solution offerings
•    Lead product development opportunities and capture customer demand potential
•    Participate in deal definition and negotiation and support preparation of formal responses to RFIs and RFPs for RNG sources
•    Collaborate with the Spire Business Development department, as well as with Engineering, Operations, Safety, Analytics, Regulatory, Legal, Environmental Compliance, and Management
•    Regulatory review and analysis to continue developing in-house expertise on programs the Company participates in and other developing programs and legislation
•    Monitor, analyze, and report on changes in energy, climate, and transportation regulations, incentives, policy frameworks, and goals; assist in development of Company position and related comments as necessary
•    Conduct ongoing in-depth analysis of RFS and LCFS rulemakings; assist in development of Company position and related comments
•    Other responsibilities as assigned by Manager
•    Location is flexible.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

•    A four-year college degree is required, a graduate degree is preferred. (No major specified)

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

•    6+ years progressive experience required, which should include people and budget management, project development, responsibility for business results, presentations to senior leadership, and representation to stakeholders outside the company. 10 years is preferred, including leadership roles
•    Driven team player with entrepreneurial and innovative mindset
•    Passionate about sustainability, emissions reductions, and creating unique solutions to address these issues
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills
•    Good forward-thinking decision maker with the ability to organize and prioritize
•    Strong analytical skills to synthesize complex or diverse information
•    Work collaboratively with others
•    Willing to travel
•    Broad understanding of natural gas utility processes is preferred
•    Experience in Renewable Natural Gas, alternative fuels, renewable fuels, and transportation preferred.
 

Physical demands, environment and schedule

•    Hybrid work environment.  When in the office work is in a shared office environment
•    Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Occasional after- hours work may be required.
