Summary
Spire is hiring a Director - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in its downtown St. Louis (MO) location. The Director is responsible to help create and execute on strategies that support Spire’s continued journey to embrace diversity and advance our value of inclusion. This position will work across all leadership levels to provide guidance and counsel on all diversity and inclusion topics.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor strategies that promote diversity and inclusion throughout Spire and its Subsidiaries.
- Create action plans and metrics around diversity and inclusion strategies to measure performance.
- Prepare quarterly report for CHRO and Leadership Council on progress against DEI action plans.
- Partner with HR Operations & Rewards teams to ensure that all policies and procedures support DEI initiatives and collaborate on any EEO goals.
- Partner with Manager, Workforce Development to coordinate recruitment initiatives and efforts around diversity.
- Own and develop relationships with external organizations, to stay on-top of industry leading practices in DEI and partner with these organizations to support and help advance Spire’s DEI efforts
- Partner with Talent Development to identify training and development needs across the organization related to DEI.
- Work with Corporate Communications to ensure the company’s DEI philosophy is clearly communicated across appropriate channels.
- Serve as the liaison for DEI at networking, social and community events.
- Provide guidance to leaders throughout the organization for promoting and building a culture that values diversity of culture, skills and backgrounds.

Essential Characteristics and Competencies
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights and recommendations
- Ability to understand the various facets of diversity and strong knowledge of current laws, research, trends and practices in DEI
- Strong ability to drive results and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong influential leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with employees across the entire organization
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position manages Diversity and Inclusion programs and may have direct people leadership responsibilities over time.
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- 10 years Human Resources experience REQUIRED
- 4+ years leading diversity, equity and inclusion efforts REQUIRED
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- Physical Demands – Position is an office-based position that requires occasionally lifting less than ten pounds
- Work Environment – Work is normally performed in a shared office environment
- Hours – Work schedule is defined by Spire policy while supporting core Spire HR operational and project needs
- Travel Requirements – Position requires occasional travel
