Summary

The gas control intern will be responsible for providing support to the gas control department. This role may also include some cross-functional duties in operations and gas supply.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing and submitting reports to various departments and personnel within the Company
  • Gathering and analyzing data in support of gas supply planning and forecasting
  • Tracking additions, relocations, modifications and other changes to the system infrastructure
  • Recording, reviewing and compiling data for operational and forecasting needs and communicate information as appropriate to other departments within the Company
  • Developing and documenting best practices for departmental best practices and future operations
  • Assisting with documenting and enhancing training
  • Other duties as assigned
  • This role may also include:
  • Becoming operator qualified
  • Adjusting supplies through use of remote-control regulators and valves as needed to maintain sufficient system pressures and flow
  • Remotely controlling and monitoring company equipment which may include but is not limited to regulator set-points, odorant injection and heaters in order to maintain maximum safety and efficiency of the system
  • Monitoring, analyzing and responding to SCADA alarms and the recognition of unusual conditions that do not generate alarms while notifying appropriate responding personnel

Essential Characteristics and Competencies

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Rising Junior or Senior undergraduate student or graduate student
  • 3.0 GPA

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Ability to lead by example in support of the Company’s essential characteristics and values: Strong Ethics and Integrity, Dedication to a Safe Work Environment, Commitment to a Diverse Workforce that recognizes and respects every individual’s unique skills and perspectives
  • Must be a currently enrolled rising Junior or Senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in construction management, engineering, business or relevant degree 
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Knowledge of basic engineering principles and basic physics preferred
  • Proficiency using MSO (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) required, Microsoft Access preferred
  • Ability to use or learn to use various software, including, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and GIS
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions, work independently and multitask effectively
  • Ability to pass random drug testing

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Typically, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, but flexible
  • Some additional time beyond normal work hours is sometime required to meet target timeframes for completing special projects or studies
