Summary

Spire is seeking an Internal Auditor Intern. This position will be responsible for assisting in objective and independent evaluation of risks, assessing the internal control environment and recommending improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Opportunity to rotate between various accounting and finance assignments to potentially include:
  • Financial and/or Operational Audits
  • Information Technology Audits
  • Compliance & Continuous Auditing/Monitoring
  • Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Assist with performance of internal audits and special projects under the direction of the Audit Manager
  • Document audit work performed while adhering to departmental and professional work paper standards
  • Utilize effective communication skills to develop and maintain productive relationships with clients and team members at various level
  • Assist with the generation of standard and non-standard reports
  • Researches outstanding items/issues.
  • Accountable for quality, accuracy and planning of own work is crucial
  • Opportunity to travel to various business locations
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Rising Junior or Senior level undergraduate or graduate student
  • 3.0 GPA or higher

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of basic accounting theory and principles
  • Understanding of basic finance and Generally Accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management and planning

Physical demands, environment and schedule

 

  • Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday.
