Spire is seeking a Lead, Middleware Automation Engineer to move Spire’s middleware technology forward within the application shared services team.  This role will be primarily responsible for providing oversight and guidance within a team of automation developers to support data flow, performance, and automation improvements for the application suite of products that enable Spire’s critical business processes.

Duties and responsibilities:
•    Supports integration and automation within stream of core applications, including, but not limited to, Customer Care & Billing, E-Business Suite, Fusion middleware, Maximo, Click and other third-party applications
•    Provide technical oversight for development teams and business users, and enables end to end business processes with workload automation
•    Responds, when required, to triage production issues related to integrations or scheduling operations and follow Service Level Agreement set forth
•    Oversee and influence built-in quality, partnering with Quality Assurance, as it pertains to unit/developer testing
•    Fully imbedded in development team, and participates in all ceremonies and planning, focused on acceptance criteria that is clear, precise, and testable
•    Accepts work into the team backlog and owns the commitment related to what has been laid out to be completed each PI.  
•    Partner with architects to understand technical landscape, as well as future roadmap to support middleware operations
•    Accountable for development and updating of technical documentation
•    Ensure execution of overall ITS solution strategy, standards, and practices
•    Oversees and drives standards of development
•    Effectively collaborate within your specific team, as well as across agile teams to ensure alignment in dependencies, and how each team’s work impacts your own  
•    Identify and create efficiencies within existing end to end business processes and current batch operations
•    Responsible for monitoring performance issues, identifying and executing on long-term solutions to improve automation

Required Skills:
•    Requires technical design knowledge using SQL server, PL/SQL, SQL, and relational database 
•    Experience with client-side web development markup and languages (HTML, JavaScript, CSS), and modern design UX frameworks such as Bootstrap
•    Strong analytical skills/capabilities to solve complicated issues arising during design and testing phase
•    Experience design and development of SOAP and/or REST based APIs 
•    Strong scripting experience (javaScript, XML, Python, etc.)
•    Extensive experience in writing technical designs 
•    Experience in the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development practices

Supervisory responsibilities:

Education and experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree - Computer Science, Information Technology, or Technical Engineering preferred
•    7+ years of experience with Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, including SOA, BPEL, WebLogic Server and ADF or Automated schedulers (Automic preferred)
•    5+ years of related work experience playing an active leadership role in technology delivery and business analysis
•    Understanding of enterprise applications, functionality, and end to end processes, preferred but not required, in specialized application support stream (i.e Customer Facing or Internal Core Apps)
•    Expert knowledge of structured and object-oriented programming, relational database design, operating systems, networking concepts, and systems integration
•    Experience with Hana Cloud Platform development and integration
•    Experience with integrations to cloud systems such as Salesforce, Cintas and others
•    Experience with multi-tier JEE environments
•    Experience with Linux and Windows Operation Systems
•    Strong experience working with Oracle JDeveloper environment and applications 
•    Prior people leadership experience a plus, but not required
•    Experience developing in an agile environment a plus 

Certificates, licenses, registrations:
•    SAFe certification(s) a plus

Work environment: 
•    Hybrid Remote/Office environment
•    Work performed primarily during business hours, with off-hours support required at times
•    Some travel may be required as ITS and teams are disparate across locations (primarily St. Louis and Birmingham)
