Summary

Spire is seeking a Manager Facility Planning, Design and Construction, to work in our St. Louis MO office.  This position will be responsible to develop, manage and implement plans for the long-term Facilities Strategy, including all construction management and all workspace needs for all new and existing facilities as needed across all company locations as well as any other Facilities project or activity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Company’s strategic facility plan as it relates to real estate and construction projects including Workspace (Project Portfolio Management); ensuring the projects are executed on time and within budget amount.
  • Responsible for the development of the Company strategic facility plan for construction, remodeling and workspace through the annual assessment process.
  • Encourage and promote effective communication as necessary including meeting with the Business/Operations, Shared Services groups and other Managers in Real Estate and Facilities to determine business requirements and standards that are applicable to the project.
  • Responsible for overall development, maintenance and compliance with Construction and Workspace Standards.
  • Provide oversight for all contracts and statements of work, ensuring proper coordination with supply chain, legal and any other necessary departments.
  • Leads and champions change management that is needed on facility projects. 
  • Manage the teams responsible for the construction/remodeling projects, coordination of designers and consultants and general contractor, etc.
  • Report to the Director, Real Estate and Facilities and leadership (as requested) the progress of projects and overall facility plan, providing reports including timelines, issues list, milestones, action items, key business decisions, other project metrics, benchmarks, and budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide project management for individual projects assigned.
  • Oversee the management of all space planning needs including floor plan detail, furniture, space utilization, workspace standards, and trends.
  • Create and support a workplace environment focused on a positive visitor experience at all company facilities.
  • All other duties assigned.

Essential Characteristics and Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of normal building practices, building codes, local, state and federal codes as required by the building project and the ability to read construction documents preferred or willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems and respond, systematically gather information, sort through complex issues, understand consequences of decisions, seek input from others.
  •  Ability to make difficult decisions and communicate those decisions to others.
  •  Set challenging and productive goals for the team, hold others accountable for actions and delegate efficiently.
  •  Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships at all levels in the organization.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, building services, construction management, engineering, or related field.

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • 6+ years of experience in areas including construction management, interior design, facility administration or similar discipline, planning and budgeting or project management, required.
  • 10+ years of experience in areas including construction management, interior design, facility administration or similar discipline, planning and budgeting or project management, preferred.  

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Primarily normal office conditions with periodic visits to equipment rooms, construction sites or unfinished office space as needed. 
  • The duties of this role are required for all corporate facilities across the various states and therefore travel will be required.
  • Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment, without significant physical demands.
  • Some travel required.
