Monitor inventory levels, order, and receive parts for repairing a wide variety of fleet assets. Ensure availability of parts through various vendors, validate correct parts are ordered and received. Monitor bulk fluid levels and order/receive accordingly. Monitor levels of waste oil and schedule to be emptied as required. Monitor tire inventory, order, and receive as needed. Perform analysis to ensure tires are not past expected life based off brand and tire manufacture date. Maintain appropriate inventory for all parts and perform audits and inventory analysis at least quarterly. Monitor stock for non-movement of parts and adjust stock levels as required. Provide updates to both day and night supervisors on requested parts or information. Perform timely expense reports weekly for company issued credit card.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Manages, coordinates, researches, purchases, and maintains parts and supplies such as vehicle parts, tires, lubricants, and small tools for a diverse vehicle fleet, including light, medium and heavy-duty trucks and equipment for all shifts.
•    Orders, receives, and issues parts and supplies; purchases miscellaneous items; unpacks, stores, and/or distributes goods and supplies; checks received items against packing slips and purchase orders; checks for damage and compliance with specifications; analyzes and compares related costs; and expedites special and rush orders.
•    Ensures accurate entry into Fleet Management Information System of transactions such as orders, receipts, and issues of parts, lubricants, and supplies.
•    Develops and maintains stock shelving plans; stores items in bins, on floor, or on shelves according to identifying information, such as style, size, or type of material.
•    Manage expenses and perform reports on company issued credit card.
•    Establish Blanket Purchase Orders (BPOs) for key vendors and maintain vendor accountability.
•    Develops and monitors inventory stock levels and reorder points; develops stocking criteria and monitors non-stock orders for appropriate inclusion in stock; identifies and arranges for disposal of obsolete and surplus stock; conducts and reconciles monthly cyclical physical inventory counts to computer inventory records.
•    Maintain cleanliness within parts room and surrounding area.
•    Communicate effectively with all shifts on status of parts requests.
•    Perform weekly checks on all bulk fluids, waste oil, and tires and order accordingly.
•    Researches, updates, and maintains current vendor records, parts books, vendor catalogs, and manuals; and obtains price quotes from vendors and prepares purchase requisitions as required

Essential Characteristics and Competencies

Supervisory Responsibilities


Required Education (certifications, licenses)

•    High School Diploma or GED Required. 
•    Mechanical repair knowledge of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment.

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

•    Must demonstrate high level of organization and must be able to view and interpret reports efficiently and effectively
•    Must be able to multitask throughout a normal shift.
•    Certified to safely operate company forklift.
•    Read and interpret pertinent laws, codes and safety orders dealing with the handling of fuel and transportation of fuel(s) and hazardous materials.
•    Activate emergency procedures effectively.
•    Ability to work as part of a team and display a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.

•    Fleet Management Database software experience, AssetWorks M5 preferred
•    Positive attitude and good customer service/relations.
•    Ability to navigate through various computers systems.
•    A working knowledge of Fleet Maintenance Databases.
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word & Excel).
•    Able to work in a team environment.
•    Experience working in a union or with union employees.

Physical demands, environment and schedule

•    Ability to use a copy machine to scan various documents.
•    Able to stand, sit, bend and twist within an 8hr shift.
•    Job responsibilities require both inside and outside working conditions.
•    May come in to contact with oil, grease, and a variety of fluids and solvents.
•    Must be in physical shape to use hand & power tools, climb, bend, twist, stretch, swing necessary tooling, lift up to 50 lbs. and pass a company required PT medical exam.
•    Overtime may be requested.
•    The job is performed in accordance with company rules and policies.
•    Work a normal work schedule; it is possible to adjust based on the demand of the Business or work rotational schedules as required
